Hot Holiday Fashions For Kids
The fashionable mommies and daddies of today’s society think of their kids as an extension of themselves. If they are always looking hip and cool, then why shouldn’t their kids? Now many of the top brands have branched out into children’s sizes. A sure “must have” is a pair of designer jeans. The celebrity favorites such as True Religion Brand Jeans, Earnest Sewn Jeans, and Diesel are now available in kiddie sizes.
Skinny jeans remain a big trend this season. They look adorable with a funky swing top, like the biker swing tops from Lola and James and a pair of metallic flats or high boots for your little fashionistas. For the little man in your life pair one of the designer jeans with an edgy top by Kingsley or Monster Republic. Chunky knits are always a guarantee to keep your kids warm yet still looking fabulous. Jesse Walker’s hand knit sweaters are sweet and are made from “faux fur” yarn that feels super soft and yummy. When it comes to your kids, comfort is always key.
Splendid Littles provides soft fabrics and adorable styles for both girls and boys. So this holiday season make your kid the best dressed kid on the block in the stylish gear that you wear yourself!

Tis The Season…For Keeping Up With Your Healthy Lifestyle During The Holidays!
It’s that time of year again, when your calendar is filled with holiday parties and your belly is filled with tasty treats. Here are some simple ways to make sure fitness and nutrition find their way into your busy schedule this reason as well. Start by adding exercise to your "to do" list and give it the same importance as your other errands. All activities add up! Carry a toddler around the house, take the stairs instead of the elevator, park farther from the mall, and focus on fitness during the weekends.
1. Be realistic. You probably won't be able to fit in your normal weekly workouts and that's OK. Aim for completing at least half of your normal regimen.
2. Don't deprive yourself of all the special holiday dishes. You can enjoy some special meals without going overboard. Indulge in some of your favorite family recipes, but check your portions.
3. Create a new recipe tradition. Offer your assistance in the kitchen and whip up some healthier holiday alternatives.
4. One is the magic number. Find it nearly impossible to say no to Mom's homemade goodies? Indulge, but stick to only one helping. Don't go for seconds or thirds! And, keep the portion sizes realistic. Try using a smaller plate so it seems like you're eating more than you actually are.
5. Table fitness is also something to think about. Sit at the table with good posture and suck in your stomach when eating. Take the time to savor your food by chewing slowly and even put your fork down after each bite and take a breath. Finally, drink lots of water.
6. At a party, allow yourself to try a few sweets and high-calorie appetizers, and eat them slowly to really enjoy them. But linger longer at the beautiful platters of vegetables and fruits than at those bite-sized quiches. Try to avoid anything that’s been deep-fried. Remember that cocktails pack calories, too. If you drink alcohol, limit yourself to a drink or two. Alternate those with calorie-free sparkling water.
7. Joining friends at a restaurant or theater? Park several blocks away and walk the rest of the way.
8. Shop online, by phone or by catalog, and use the time you save for exercise.
9. Mark an exercise appointment on your calendar, and keep it as faithfully as you would any other appointment. Ask your gym about guest passes or other options for visiting family members or houseguests, and invite them to exercise with you.
10. Traveling? Pack a resistance band in your suitcase. The band takes up very little space, yet can provide you with an entire upper and lower body workout routine. In the airport, take advantage of all the waiting time before and between flights to get in some brisk walking up and down the terminal.
Remember to relax and enjoy the season. Embrace holiday traditions and those special times with friends and family. And rather than trying to lose weight, do your best to maintain your fitness level and make it to New Year’s Day without any new pounds showing up on your scale.

Baby Names This is the age of unique, different and even sometimes outrageous baby names. Hollywood has definetly lead the way in the "art" of baby naming with names like Apple, Brooklyn and Suri, the more obscure the name the better it seems. I meet a lot of pregnant women every day in the store and I hear almost everything from traditional to obscure but what I see mostly is how passionate these women are about the name of their unborn child. I know for myself when I was pregnant, I wanted a name that would define my child, that when he/she went to school there wouldn't be another name like theirs but yet I did not want their name to be so "unique" that in middle school I would hear, why did you name me... I hate my name...why couldn't I just be a John??? There are also so many references to names and history from people you have met throughout your life whether it was a good or bad experience is how you perceive the name! So my husband and I agreed that we would pick our 2 favorite for each sex and whatever came out we would let the baby name his/herself. We didn't get 2 names for each sex but we got some! here is what we had and what they are named: my oldest I had Matthew Ryan and Maura or Morgan Elizabeth, her name is Morgan Elizabeth, she is now 15 my second, my husband for a boy wanted Law or Hakon, I wanted Jack Thomas and for a girl he liked Colby, I liked Audrey. Our son was born and he is named Lawson Hakon, he is 5 and our third, we picked Penn Christopher for a boy and either Colby Moore or Reese Audrey, I really wanted Audrey Elizabeth but hubby wouldn't bite, so our third was born, a girl, and I so wanted Reese but the more I looked at her the more she looked like a Colby and I am glad now since I have met more than 3 Reese's her age! Colby just turned "2" As each child grows, I really cannot picture them with any other name, they have given each name such personality! See below for the most popular names of 2006
